Lee Note 81 Doris Edwards July 10, 2001

I was married for a brief period (seven months) and had a stepson. For the past 29 yrs. I have been with a great guy. He was with me at the reunion. We have never married, but after 29 yrs. of commitment, I feel we have done much better than a lot of other married people in this world.

We had no children. So I have no grandchildren, but I taught enough children for 31 yrs. so that I feel no need for it. We have a house in Dickinson that we built all by ourselves (everything but pouring the concrete slab). We are now remodeling it to sell.

We have the 20 acres here in Iola. We built some of this house ourselves. We have no cows, or wild animals (like Necia Adams Yak). Just the dog and 2 cats.

We do have 2 ponds, 1 stocked with catfish, and the other with bass. It's great up here near College Station, not as much humidity as Baytown and Dickinson, and certainly not as many mosquitoes.

I have no earthshaking projects like most of the biographies I've been reading. I retired 6 yrs. ago after the 31 yrs. of teaching. I now like to read, cross-stitch, and of course I'm busy with our remodeling down in Dickinson.

We have traveled a lot and have been to Europe 2-3 times. Once we went there skiing at Christmas. We went to Czechoslovakia when it was still under communist rule. Marty (my partner), was born there, and wanted to go back to see where he was born. We used to snow ski and scuba dive, and have been to Grand Cayman and Cozumel diving. We went on a Cruise to Alaska about 3 years ago, and to Hawaii last year. Last year we also went on a tour to Canada.

We're hoping next year to get to go to New Zealand.

We plan to be at the reunion on Friday night.
