Lee Note 71 Minnie Heintschel June 30, 2001

Dear Kay,

As I promised you would be hearing from me soon, here goes.

Right after graduation, I attended Lee Jr. College. In that same year in September, I was a bridesmaid for Elaine Guidry's wedding. It was there that I met the "Best Man", Charles Donald Baumhoer (1958 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, Houston and also a graduate of Lee Jr. College). We immediately started dating. However, that following March, his job moved him up to Indiana. We kept in contact through telephone, mail, and even some visits back to Texas. We were engaged in May and married in August - soon to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary! Of course, that meant I had to leave Texas and move up here to "corn growing" country, Indiana.

I soon got a job as a secretary, which also gave me a good chance to get acquainted with new friends. I gave up that job when our first child, Kenneth, was born in July 1963. Our second child, Stephen, was born in June 1964. Our third, Christopher, in March 1966. And our fourth and final child, Cara Lynn, in March 1968.

Once all of our kids were in school, I took a job at Castle High School Cafeteria. I chose this job because it meant that I would be home when my kids were home. And although all the kids have all gone on to graduate from college, marry and supply us with TEN adorable and loving grandkids, I'm still working there today. I really like my job - Honest!

I do a lot of volunteer work for my church and have participated in all the school and sport functions as my kids were growing up. I like to work in my flower garden, do counted cross stitch, and have belonged to a club (a group of 8 women) for the past 39 years. These women are like family as we have shared all our sorrows and joys over all these years.

Since my Catholic faith has always been important to me, it is only appropriate that we live just across the road from a Catholic Church. And just about three blocks south is the Ohio River, where you can take a scenic mile walk down Water St. to our charming, historic town of Newburgh.

As you can see, I've been very busy these past 40 years. I haven't made it to any of the class reunions and am not sure if I'll make it to any in the future. Therefore, it is so great that Kay (and whoever else is responsible) has made it possible for all of us to keep in touch through the Internet. I haven't seen any life stories lately, and I know that Kay keeps asking for more, so how about it - anyone? I, for one, find them very interesting and fun to read.

I wish the best of health and happiness to you all, and may God bless,

Minnie Heintschel Baumhoer
