Lee Note 70 Larry Shelton - Quack Shack June 29, 2001
Hey folks! I cannot believe all of this time and ... what has been mentioned of the QUACK SHACK? That to me was an idea far ahead of its time, and one of the things to look forward to each week. Sure, lots of the guys stood on the side walls afraid to go across to where the girls were standing to ask for a dance, but ... this was where we danced to Buddy Holly, Little Richie (Chantilly Lace), Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis et cetera.
Think back to the parents who gave up their time. Just shows how unaware I was, I never knew who they were or said "thank you". Me, I sometimes wish I could do it all over again, and hopefully be more aware of LIFE as I went through the times. I don't regret what I have done, just am a bit disappointed in what I DID NOT DO. Or did not say, I can remember days when one of the girls in class looked particularly nice, but I was embarrassed to take the time to say how nice she looked. And I think back and wonder; did ANYONE say anything that day?
Well, enough of THAT. I also want to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write. Actually, as busy as I am in my business, Kay's notes are the first things I go to. Sort of sets the tone for the day, and if you don't send YOUR information in, I guess its YOUR fault I had a bad day! (See, I'm still avoiding responsibility for my actions!) Another thought... how about a special THANK YOU to the annual staff... those folks who made it possible to go back and see what these people looked like back then, who helped capture the feelings of those times for times like now.
Thanks,
Lawrence Shelton
