Lee Note 52 Jimmy Pridmore June 8, 2001

Hi Kay,

Let’s see, I basically left Baytown after we graduated, never to return except as a visitor. Entered Texas A&M in the fall of '60 and finally left there with an MS and a commission in the Army in 1966. From there I spent close to a year in Houston at Houston Lighting & Power, then off to active duty during Vietnam. My service time was spent fighting --- fighting the traffic in Washington DC where I was stationed in Arlington, VA. I did manage a couple of nice trips on the government to Germany.

I left the Army in 1969, moved to Lynchburg, VA. Since then I've been on the run -- Lynchburg, Cleveland, OH, Cupertino, CA, Atlanta, GA, Houston, Atlanta again, Houston again, Atlanta again, then New Orleans finally in 1990. As you can see, this is the longest I've ever stayed put. I've married three times -- finally got it right this time to Gloria.

I have two super kids by my first marriage, Laura and John, who both still live with their families in the Atlanta area. John and his wife have given us one super grandbaby, Amanda, and have another due about the end of the year.

Gloria's son, Brinson, has given us a grandbaby also, Kailene, and they also live in the Atlanta area. My Dad and Mom have both passed away before they ever got to know any of their great grandkids.

Still the vagabond, these eleven years in New Orleans we have moved six times. It is tough when you have to fill out an application that requires a record of your past addresses!

From about 1973 until last August, all my various jobs were traveling --continuously. As a result I have gotten to see all the Western Hemisphere and a lot of the rest of the world. Unfortunately business travel didn't facilitate my really being touristy and getting to know the areas.

Last August I changed jobs to one where I travel locally (200 mile radius daily) so am home every night for the first time in 27 years. Of course, Gloria travels all the time in her job, so we still only pass on weekends!

From the sound of a lot of the notes, I must be very late in starting to drift into retirement. I need to take a hint; there are so many things I would like to be doing other than being gainful. I hope anyone who makes it to New Orleans (it is a great destination to eat, drink, and party in) will let us know. We love a good excuse to try new restaurants!!

Kay, many thanks to you and to your group of helpers - Linda, Linda, Keith, Craig, and probably others. It is amazing and wonderful how quickly you have put us all back in touch and closed the gap of years. I really appreciate the chance to get reacquainted by your efforts.
