Lee Note 46 The Baytown Museum

From Helen Boucher:

The Baytown Museum is located in the Old Post Office on Defee Street across from the backside of the old J.C. Penney's store. My husband, Gil, is presently the President of the Historical Society and Museum.

The museum is opened Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm. It really surprises everyone when they visit that the museum is so large with so many historical items pertaining to the surrounding area.

Wanda Mitchell is the director and would probably be glad to arrange a tour for the mini class reunion. I feel that any classmate would enjoy going back in time and seeing and recollecting the past that Baytown holds so dear to them. There are old Brigadier and band uniforms and other relics that hold precious memories to all of us.

The Museum had a fund raising project in which paver bricks could be purchased. The Robert E. Lee Class of 1960 purchased a paver. It has not been laid as of now but will be going in on the next phase of pavers. I am not sure when that will be but there are already two phases of pavers that have gone in and people will recognize a few of the names on them.

If I can be of any help in arraigning a tour for the mini class reunion please let me know. I will not be in town that weekend but I can make some arrangement with Wanda Mitchell.
